Staithe Barn refurbished

In 1953 there was a major flood on the East Anglian Coast. The staircase wall of Staithe Barn is built of chalk. It has been said that the chalk absorbed the seawater half a century ago and never recovered. This may or may not be correct, though we have now completely lined the wall of the staircase, matchboarded it and redecorated.
The balcony needed resurfacing and now sports a wooden Cedar floor. The railings have been modernised and the French windows replaced, along with the front door.
The thought behind the design was to attempt to reflect the former industrial use of the building, while giving it a modern, timeless nautical look.

Film Locations "Bulla - the Movie"

We have hosted a number of units this year and currently the yard is busy with the team filming "Bulla - the Movie". After hosting the unit locations for the popular BBC spy series "Spooks" and the new prodution of Jane Austin's "Emma" last summer, we then provided a site for the unit base for "Cosi" starring Richard E Grant and Sarah Brightman and recently for "Any Human Heart" with Jim Broadbent and Kim Cattrall.

Staithe Barn refurbished

Staithe Barn has had an exciting facelift! Gone are the blue boatstore doors, replaced by Western Red Cedar. The balcony surface is now cedar and the railings have been renewed with wood and stainless steel. The hallway and staircase and all the bedrooms have been redecorated.

The Orchard Barn

"The Orchard Barn" has been fully redecorated externally and a mulitfuel stove installed to keep it warm and snug during the winter months.

"The Orchard Barn" was the venue for the sucessful launch of Hertfordshire Constabulary's new project for Rural Special Constables.
